I actually found this in an old email.

“All third world debt will be cancelled. They’re not going to pay anyway. You know that. I know that. Don’t deny it” Monster Raving Loony Party Manifesto 2001

They dropped this from there 2005 manifesto, obviously it had become to realistic to be considered loony.

it’s a bit of an ongoing experiment in shopping this so it may not work.

Currently we need a new printer, (don’t get me started on how much I hate printers), and after some thought we’ve decided jump the shark on inkjet printers and get a Laser instead.

So at the moment, the best choice appears to be the HP Color LaserJet 2550L retailing in PC World at ?249.99 in store and ?234.98 on-line, but as you may know we’re quite impatient and we want it now, so it’s the ?249.99 option? well no, if you go to PC world, and start like you are going to purchase it on-line, and then say “oh no I’ll collect it from the store in about an hour”, you get the on-line price! bargain!

we’re just about to nip out and collect. so it will be interesting to see, if PC world hold to there end of the bargin. I will of course throw a strop threaten to leave and then buy it anyway if they don’t.

Update 1: OK so that went as well, they typed my reference number into their pooters, found the Printer and charged me the Internet only price, so providing the big heavy box I’ve just lumped up stairs is a printer we’re good to go.

Update 2: Cool, (or Book as we now say), it works, and after removing a very large amount of orange locking things, we have a colour laser printer in the house. It takes up most of my cupboard mind, but that’s a small price to pay for a printer that works, and works fast!

OK slightly nerdy post: but Google Earth Rocks! The Images outside the US aren’t as good, but still flying around the world is fab. When you enter a city in the search box. The display moves like you are flying from one place to another. It’s quite cool.

I have to say it’s got my interest; walking past the empire this morning on the way to work. Currently showing starlight express. The sign on the doors says “Don’t forget your 3D Glasses”, that sounds good, Theatre were the people actually look like they are there.

I had a spare few minutes at the end of the day, So i looked at houses, and ever since i’ve been annoying Ruth with my fantasy relocation, relocation.

of course to the Isle of Wight, on relocation relocation they often buy two properties, one usally in the city for work, and a weekend/stay at home mum, house for the family. Well that doesn’t really suit us, so I’m going for a home, in the super nice St Lawrence at the southern tip of the island, with our income coming from Ventnor. Ten minutes down the road. given that we have a house worth around ?190,000 (it would appear!) and a mortgage of approx ?60,000 (including car). here is my fantasy relocation:

?119,000 : Two Bedroom Apartment : Undercliffe Drive St Lawrence; Stunning views, of the see (when there is no fog!) and two rooms, so one for us and one for Dasiy, there not to small. so that would be ok.

This is the View, the lower blue thing is the Sea

And then i can either;
buy a shop outright on ventnor high street for ?79,000 or rent a shop for ?6,000 a year, also on ventnor high street.

I Can Buy this Shop (Just the shop) ?79,000.

or I Could Rent this Shop (?6,000)

I’ve thought (probably to much) about it, and my shop would be a trendy Coffee shop, something you might be suprised to learn Ventnor doesn’t have. I think there is enough of a market, even out of the summer season, to keep you going. I might even have a few pooters, and definitely wireless, you’ve got to keep your hand in. I wouldn’t do anything more exiting than grilled toaties things, and muffins, and i would almost certainly source them from somewhere. the only real skill i would need to master is how to make nice coffee.

I’m locked into some sort of battle with my desk at the moment. I’ve recently reorganized things so that I’m on the other side of the desk with a huge expanse of veneer to my right, which is fantastic for moving away from the computer and actually thinking, problem is, it fills up with stuff so quickly.

So because this week has been so bitty in terms of work (and because, I’ve got the tidy bug), I’ve spent a ’small’ amount of time this morning, clearing my desk. I’m attempting a new strategy for things that clutter my desk, I’ve got a “To Do” Tray, a “To Read” Tray, and a “I’ve read it but I can’t throw it away yet because we will need it soon” Tray, which for convenience I’ve called “Current Project Docs”. Hopefully this will keep it all under control.

The biggest problem is the “Current Project Docs”, working out what exactly defines a project that is or is just about to happen as current is a bit of grey area. At the last count there about 10 projects that are just about to happen, so I might end up with lots and lots of stuff in one tray and nothing in the other two.

Living by the clock.

I suppose it’s one of those things we shouldn’t do, but we live by the clock. From very early on we’ve had the mantra of “Routine is King”, and given the looks of amazement (and sometimes envy) we get when we talk about Daisy’s sleep patterns, and bed-time, and morning routine, it would seem to be quite a good mantra to live by.

The problems often stem from following these things too rigidly, and we have fallen foul of that in the past. So now we don’t automatically assume that 7pm is bed time (it almost always is however), and we are prepared to stretch it a bit if a late nap snuck in, either in the car or just because Daisy needed it.

My biggest problem is not living by the clock when daisy is going to sleep. Don’t get me wrong you need that clock. When you have a crying or restless baby, in a darkened room, minutes can stretch into the distance, at least with a clock you can keep some form of perspective (incidentally I have become an expert at counting to sixty in exactly one minute). I often find myself setting little milestones on the clock, partly to keep me sane, and partly to confirm we are making progress.

From quite a while early on, when sleeping wasn’t a put in cot and sit routine, I would be holding Daisy thinking “she looks asleep now, in five minutes I will leave/put her down.” only to see her wake up in my arms after four and a half minutes. Now I’m much more ruthless, I go; oh well she looks asleep, and she isn’t still recovering from a tantrum, I’ll leave the room. I have to say this always works, the only time you have to go back in, is when you put her straight down, occasionally looking asleep while you carry her is just a front.

Back to today; well I started this post, because of the time, it’s now 5:30am, Daisy woke at 5. I don’t know why, she was crying something that didn’t immediately stop when I entered the room, so it wasn’t a normal wake.

The problem is that 5 is awfully close to 6 and one of our unwritten rules is if she wakes after around 4:30 then she won’t go back to sleep. I have little doubt that is true, but after sitting with Daisy for the last 30 minutes, I do wonder, she does look very tired, admittedly she’s not showing any real signs of wanting to sleep (she is in the chair in the study, if she was REALLY tired she would fall asleep there ) , and if I put her back down, I would almost certainly have an hour long hissy fit, before real morning arrived. Something I’m not to prepared to do, given it’s only 5 in the morning.

Do I have a point ? Probably not, I suppose I started by thinking that the 4:30 rule was a bit arbitrary, and to some extent it is. I’m sure if I had gone in this morning and she had started to nod off I would have left her. One things for sure, she’s not going back to sleep just now.
